DETAIL ITINERARY
DAY 01: HO CHI MINH (SAI GON) CITY ARRIVAL
Golf is probably not the first thing people think of when planning vacation in Vietnam. Yet with the country’s stunning scenery and safe environment, the country now attracts a number of golf lovers. Sai Gon, with more than 8 million inhabitants, is the country’s commercial center. Despite the well documented hustle and bustle, the city retains its connections to the past. Embark on a walking tour to admire Sai Gon’s historic landmarks including a stroll down Rue Catinat of Graham Greene's 'The Quiet American', which reveals several colonial classics; the Opera House, a three-story classical theatre built to entertain the French colonists (outdoor visit); the former Hotel de Ville constructed for the French bureaucrats of Indochina in 1901, now The People's Committee building with no public access; the Notre Dame Cathedral, a stunningly massive red-brick edifice with twin spires, a clear reminder that French once ruled this city (open only 3-4pm every day, otherwise just an outdoor visit); the Central Post Office influenced by Renaissance architecture; and the former Presidential Palace, headquarters of the Sai Gon Government during the American war. If time permits, drive 6km to another district of Sai Gon which most habitants are Chinese to visit Thien Hau temple built by the Cantonese congregation in the early 19th century. It was built to honor the goddess of the sea and protect local fishermen. The temple’s interior courtyard is worth seeing with beautiful ceramic figurines and antiques shrouded in incense-smoke. It is always bustling here with worshippers from the local Chinese community. Take the opportunity to write out your wishes on a small red note, stick it on an incense coil and pray for your wishes come true. Return to your hotel and relax. Tonight, enjoy dinner with a local golf expert at Nam Kha restaurant tonight. Opportunity to get a glimpse of golf development as well as his life experiences. Overnight in Sai Gon.
